Grammar

Could both types be used?

Could someboy help me with the following sentences?

1) I can’t believe you could simply give up your job like that after only have worked for one week. You should have thought about how the media industry works(worked???) before you got the job.

Is the clause 'how the media industry works' used correctly in the above sentence?

2) Mike: Jonny, how about your trip to India. Did you find out what you want(wanted???) in life?
Jonny: Yes I did. I found out that I am(was???) not a bacholar anymore and I want(wanted???) to have a long term commitment with my girlfriend.

Are the grammar used above correct? Should the past tense use instead of the present and why?

3) Lawer: Mr. Thompson, when you commited the robbery, did you know that the person you wounded was(is???) your father?
Crimminal's friend: Jee, I didn't know he had(has???) a father.

Should we use present tense for the above sentences? Can both present tense and past tense be used in the above case? Could you explain what is the difference in meaning might cause by swithching the tenses?
