Could be made subjunctive?

Hi,

I don't know if the word 'as though' automatically creates the subjunctive( I think) as in "She acts as If she were a queeen" or "If she were a queen, she would help the poor people." Are they both the subjunctive, anyway?

But the way I see the sentence below could work in the subjunctive.

This book reads as though she is narrating a family history with a passion for God's love.

In the subjunctive - possible?

This book reads as though/as if she were narrating a family history with a passion for God's love.
