Could anyone recommend some book of thesaurus?

In my study,i encounter alot of word similar words suchas "contest" and "content". But i cant figure out the difference between them. i don't know what context i can use them. could anyone recommend some book or dictionary that could help me?

Contest and content have no similarities in meaning at all; they merely have similar letters in them. I know of no book that deals with that sort of arbitrariness,
