Could anyone please correct the mistakes in my message?

Hi,
Checking for updates of my windows 7 system no longer respond:
Windows 7 systems was automatically notifying me when there are new available updates. However, this is no longer working.

Thus, when I found out that Windows no longer automatically notify with new available updates, I became manually checking for updates by following the following steps:
First: I open the control panel. Then, I click on the 'System and Security" option. After that, I click the 'Window updates' option. Next, in the window of the windows update, I click the 'check for update' button. Finally, this message "Windows cannot search for updates now, because the service is not running. You may need to restart your computer" shows me.

I have tried restarting my computer; however, this did make no difference.

I would quite greatly appreciate it if you could help me.
