Could anybody check this resignation letter with consent request?

I am new to English and to this forum.....its my great opportunity in joining in this community....
here is the letter.....please check whether its ok or to do any alteration.
Dear Sir,
As my contract is expiring on Jan 5, 2007, I would like to inform you that I am resigning from my position as a salesman, effective March 1.
Thank you for the opportunities for professional and personal development that you have provided me during the 4 years.
I have enjoyed working for the company and appreciate the support provided me during my tenure with the company.
If I can be of any assistance during this transition, please let me know.
Herewith I am requesting you to provide me the consent letter for my future visit in this country.

Your meaning is not clear to me. Here's what I understand from your letter.
You have a contract position that ended on Jan. 1, 2007. There seems to be no need here for a resignation.
You also have another position as a salesman. You want to resign from that, effective March 1 (2008?).

ok...i will explain it....
actually im working in a company in saudi arabia. The company will renew my contract for every 2 years.
suppose, if im not interest to renew my contract i have to give a letter to my company stating that im not interest in renewing my contract. Also, in saudi arabia if any person is leaving the country by "Exit"
