Can could and would be used as polite forms of can and will?

Could you please pass the salt. Rather than Can you please pass the salt.

I would love to go out to dinner with you! Compared to I will love to go out to dinner with you!

Other examples:

Could you please move out of the way. Can you please move out of the way.

I would like the pizza please. I'll have the pizza please.
