Could a Native help me with the structuring?

Could you please help me correct these sentences. How would you properly say these sentences please?

1 It's been a while since I went to a country where I don't speak the language.
It's been a while since I went to a country in which I don't speak the language.

2 How is this best expressed?
What the best way to express this?

3 You see what happens throughout/through/during the season.

4 Some people who make less live better than people who make more.
Some people who make less are better off than people who make more.

5 I used a picture that wasn't mine/that don't belong to me.

6 I never would have thought he would be/was the nice one and you the mean one.

7 You are lucky to have her for/as a sister.

8 I don't know whether to be happy or sad./if I should be happy or sad.

9 It's a matter of time before the truth comes out/is coming out.

3. You can use throughout or during, depending on the context.
But you wouldn't use through.

4. I'd change make to earn.
The second sentence is better formulated.
