Cots normally go in the parents' bedroom.

Hello.

I saw the following sentence:

Cots normally go in the parents' bedroom.

Is it a natural English and just means that cots are normally located in the parents' bedroom? Can we omit 'the' before 'parents' as the sentence is general? Hmmm, or perhaps 'the' before 'parents' implies the obvious - we mean the parents of a given kid, not some other parents...

I tried to look this meaning up in the dictionary but to no avail...
