Cost/Expense

Suppose I've bought, with my own money, a book for a friend who had agreed to pay me back later:

"I will receive the cost (of the book) later."
"I will receive the expense (of the book) later."

Could this be right?

Neither sounds natural. Use "I will be reimbursed later" or simply "He will pay me back for the book."

No - they sound worse.

Khoff's suggestions are the best - especially 'He will pay me back later'.

"I will receive consulting fees from my employer."
"The school will receive tuition from Peter."
