Vocabulary

corroborate/support

Hello,
Can sometimes support be used instead of corroborate? Here's a sentence: "Recent research seems to corroborate his theory." As far as I know, corroborate involves providing someone with information, evidence, etc. To me, support seems to be more generic.

Thank you

I think your analysis is correct. To me, support would be agreement, while corroboration would be supplying more evidence that gives credence to the original.
