Hi! Are these two sentences correct? Thanks, Fulvio

1. He had many tragedies in his life.

2. Many tragedies happened in his life.

I think that your sentences should be in the perfect perfect tense. 'He' can still suffer from a lot of tragedies in both the present and the future.

1. He had many tragedies in his life.

2. Many tragedies happened in his life.

They are grammatically correct, but not completely idiomatic.

He has experienced a lot of tragedy in his life.
