Sorry, the setences are:

(c) She is spreading / spreading over the bread.

P/s: (b) A durian has a foul smell and thorny skin. (why do we put "a thorny skin"? I think "skin" cannot be counted", right?)

(c) She is spreading butter/jam over the bread.

P/s: (b) A durian has a foul smell and thorny skin. (why do we put "a thorny skin"? I think "skin" cannot be counted", right?)- Skin can be counted, but you're right: 'a' is not necessary. I just found it a more natural flow.
