Shouldn't of ten be one word: often He fought often challengers on his way to the finals of the championship. The sentence is stating the frequency (often) of fighting challengers as he made his way to be in the finals.

You do not need the word "of" before the word "ten."

Oooh, I thought the sentences said "he fought ten challengers," haha.

It should be:

He fought off ten challengers on his way to the finals of the championship.

Note also the period at the end of the sentence.
