Hi,

Please correct these.

1. We sent the merchandise you asked for. Please let us know if you haven't received it by Thursday, November XX.

2. Can parrots sing? I think they can: they are a bird (birds?).

How would you explain the use of the present perfect "haven't received by some date"? Basically, I know two uses of present perfect: 1) to denote present pertinence and 2) an action that is continued upto the present.
