Hi there teachers,Could you please check If these sentences sound right to you?1). I know you are little fat, but that won't affect the affection I have for you. 2). I know you are little fat, but that won't affect the attraction I have towards you.- Do we say "develop an affection for someone" or "develop an attraction towards someone"?For example:- When I was 18, I developed an affection for you. (correct?)Or - When I was 18, I developed an attraction towards you. (correct?)3). Tell me what has happened to you. (Teaches, would there be any difference in meaning if I said "happened with you", instead?)When you want to ask someone about his/her relation to/with another person, how do you ask that, teachers?4). What relation does she have with you? or What relation do you have with her?Teachers, please tell me if there is any other better way to ask the question above. Thank you.

In my opinion, all women would be insulted by these sentences.

- Do we say "develop an affection for someone" or "develop an attraction towards someone"?
For example:
- When I was 18, I developed an affection for you. (correct?)
Or
- When I was 18, I developed an attraction towards you. (correct?)
Both are OK.

3). Tell me what has happened to you. (Teaches, would there be any difference in meaning if I said "happened with you", instead?) No big difference is usually intended. 'To you' can refer to some external event, eg I was hit by a car. 'With you' sounds a bit more internal, eg I got sad.

When you want to ask someone about his/her relation to/with another person, how do you ask that, teachers?

4). What relation does she have with you? or What relation do you have with her?
No. Say eg What relation is she to you? eg How are you related to her?

Note this A had relations with B is a way of saying that A had *** with B.

1). Clive, In your post you said that all women would be insulted by those sentences. Could you please tell me if there's a way in which I can express the ideas that I've tried to express in my sentences and the person (the woman) I speak those sentences for won't feel humiliated / insulted too?

2). Can we also say "develop a crush on someone"?
For eg: I've developed a crush on you since I saw you first. (is this sentence natural to you? Or is it better to say "I developed a crush on you when I saw you first"?)

4). Can I say "what is she / he to you" as well?

You are asking me if there is a polite way to tell a woman that she is a little fat? Let me ask you this. Why do you feel the need to say this at all?

Now it's my turn and I say: "I know you're a little fat, but don't worry that won't affect the affection/love I have for you." or "I know you're a little fat, but don't worry that won't affect the attraction I have towards you."

Now, dear Clive, you please tell me if what I said to her should make her feel humiliated/insulted? (I've written "should make her feel...". Would it have been better If I had written "should have made her feel...", because the preceding verb "said" is in a past tense?)

For my second sentence, you said that it wasn't better to say "I developed a crush on you when I saw you first". Did you say so because 'developing a crush on someone' takes time and it doesn't fit well in the simple past tense form and with the clause 'when I saw you first'? Sir, please clarify this to me for I'm really curious to know why you preferred "I've developed..." over "I developed...".

I wouldn't even mention the word fat. I'd just say eg I love you. Yes, I promise I'll be with you forever.

This is all hypothetical.,

I would not say "I know you're a little fat". 'Fat' is a negative word, and is not normally used to/of a person one cares for.

I would say something like:

I love you for the person you are.
You are not fat; you are cuddly.
