I assumed becuase everyone is entitled to their notions and ideas , it's not just right to regard them . Am I correct in assuming that ?

I have the impression that disregard can be used along with words like : rule , advice ,....

as in :
  1. He disregarded his father's advice and left school.
  2. Some students completely disregard the rules of the school.
my question is : can we disregard someone's notion ?

It doesn't seem to me like a difficult meaning to understand.

It just implies that the notion was originally put forward as something the listener should consider.
