Correcting 'I've heard' if you were actually told

P1: I’ve heard that Horror shows have crazy endings.

P2: Yes they do.

P1: My uncle had actually told me that before. It's cool that they do

If you initially said ‘I heard’ but were actually told that information. Is "My uncle had actually told me that before" a proper way of correcting that?
