Correct use of the possessive apostrophe

Hi

Is anyone able to advise if the apostrophe is used correctly in the text below, pariclualrly in paras two and three?

Aurora Marine Coatings’ (AMC) products protect

customers’ assets in the world’s most demanding conditions

and environments.

It’s not just our experience that enables us to anticipate

and meet the challenges of global marine and

protective coatings’ industries – it’s the unique way we

operate that makes us so special.

The specific demands of the protective and marine? coatings' market means that our operations, including account managers and customer ?service, are organized to serve all our customers,? wherever they operate across the globe.

Many thanks

Jack

My suggestions... " The apostrophe after "Coatings" is grammatically optional in my opinion, but is made awkward to handle by the bracketed initialism, so I think it's easier (and less fussy) to omit it. I actually think it might read better if you could dispose of the explanation of the initialism in an earlier sentence; something like: "Aurora Marine Coatings (AMC) is <whatever it is>.

  • " The other apostrophes on "coatings" are not required: "It’s not just our experience that enables us to anticipate and meet the challenges of the global marine and protective coatings industries – it’s the unique way we operate that makes us so special.
  • " In one place you've said "marine and protective coatings" and in the other "protective and marine coatings".

Hi

Thank you very much for the help on this query, much appreciated.

And thanks for highlighting "marine and protective coatings" and "protective and marine coatings" – they come from separate documents, so I will check consistency.

Thanks once again

I would agree with Mr W. on the apostrophes, etc.

I would also question whether the fact that your customer service is organised to serve customers is a significant selling point.

Best wishes,
