Correct use of preposition. On or At.

on the ground? or at the ground?

Depends on the context but normally on/in the ground. If something is placed on the pavement/grass/street or anything at that level it is on the ground. If it sticks out of it it is in the ground.

If I were going to a cricket match and meeting a friend there, I might say,"I'll meet you at the ground." Meaning I'll see him by the gates to the cricket ground or in the general area.
