Correct use of "during"

Hello all.

Did I use "during" correctly in this sentence? My teacher doesn´t think so and wouldn´t use it here at all.

- During the summer I lost my ID which I thought it was something my father would kill me for.

Thank you.

anonymous Did I use "during" correctly in this sentence? Yes, but you have made other mistakes which your 'teacher' evidently missed. During the summer I lost my ID, and I thought my father would kill me for for that.

"During the summer" is OK, but there are other problems with the sentence. The minimum fix would be to delete the word "it" and put a comma after "ID".
