Correct Use of Apostrophe

Please advise if this use is correct.

Amy's in love.

I think it should be Amy is in love - no apostrophe

"Amy is" can be contracted to "Amy's."

Either is fine, but Amy's wouldn't be used in writing (for academic purposes)
