Correct use of a colon?

Hi. Do the following show the correct use of the colon? Let's say these are part of a teacher's comment on a student's paper.These obviously are going to be written in pen. Thank you in advance for your help.

"Please write the lower-cased letter "g" like this: 'g.'"
"Please write the country's name like this: China."
