Correct use?

I have been tested with correct ESL and I'm still a bit blurry. Is this statement correct, and does it sound good as an opening statement?

"From the 1930’s to the present, the number of employed women and the wages they receive has changed exceedingly."

I'm not sure whether to use 'has' or 'have', and if 'changed exceedingly' sounds okay.

Top answer

Two things have changed: The number of working women AND their wages. Plural subject, plural verb. Don't use an apostrophe with 1930.

  • I don't find "changed exceedingly" to sound very natural.
