Correct usage 'commas'

The story concerns a gathering of rich socialites at a country estate organized by a rich British family, the Carvers and ends in murder.

Should the name of the family be isolated by commas ? Is it not essential information though, because a rich British family could be anyone. Does the sentence work without the commas. (rich British family the Carvers and ends in murder.)

You need a comma before and after the name:

...family, the Carvers,

Another possibility (also showing where the commas go):

The story of a gathering of rich socialites organized by the Carvers, a rich British family, ends in murder at their country estate.

Your original text means that the story ends in murder. Is that what you mean, or do you mean that the gathering ends in murder?
