Correct usage.

https://www.grammar-monster.com/lessons/quotation (speech)_marks_single_or_double.htm

In the resource the first example has: He sells 'fresh' fish. (meaning it isn't fresh?)

Is this similar to: I 'accidentally' pushed my rich wife off a cliff face for the insurance.

But it could just mean it is fresh fish with fresh being emphasized, so perhaps it's bad example.

  • Grammar Monster used that as an example of what some people do when they are careless about quotation marks—sort of an inside joke.
