Grammar

Correct usage.

1. She attended the races with her brother, Steven.

2. She attended the races with brother Steven.

3. Her mother Sarah, daughter Jane, and sister, Sally, attended the races.

Does it make any difference in terms of comma usage if the sentence has her preceding brother?

You often see the comma being omitted in examples like 2.

And the same question concerning 3, the way only the last name in the list is often enclosed, in this instance Sally.
