Grammar

Correct usage.

Can this be written without a conjunction?

Girls do like Science, but too few of them are willing to apply themselves.

Too few of them are willing to apply themselves.

In this other example, it's clear the word 'girls' is not repeated. Hence conjunction is necessary.

Girls do like Science, but also like Maths. (girls also like Maths)

Too few of them are willing to apply themselves (doesn't repeat girls nor does it make sense outside of it's context).
