Correct translation of a sentence

Hi guys....I have embarked upon a quite ambitious program: to polish my english and my spanish at the same time. To do so, I have decided to translate back and forth between the two languages. The sentence I am trying to translate into english is the following: Intentamos concebir un programa que fuera a la vez estimulante y entretenido. My translation is: We tried to come up with a program that would be stimulating and entertaining at the same time. What do you native speakers think of that "would be"? Is it correct or should I use a different form (was, for example)? Thank you very much.

'Would be' is fine, though 'was' is closer to the original.
