correct this sentence?

I need your suggestions to correct this sentence since it sounds odd to me :
"I am petitioning for an Alien Relative on behalf of my wife Lucy whom I married on May 28th"

It sounds like Lucy has the relative and you're asking instead of her. Is that what you mean? More context about what your request needs to cover would be helpful.

Hi Barbara,
Thank you for your reply, However, I was concerned about this part of the sentence: "whom I married on May 28th". well, some times it sounds fine to me, and some other times it sounds odd... what do you think?

Are you petitioning for a visa?

Say eg

"I am petitioning for an Alien Relative visa for my wife Lucy, whom I married on May 28th."
