00People, including myself, have long wondered what is the best way to develop one's competency in spoken English. Many recommendations have been given, including many on this forum, by many knowledgeable and well-intended people and I feel they are excellent advices that deserve to be followed. My position, which might be repeating the same recommendations given by many others, on this issue is that one has to immerse one's self in an environment where spoken English abounds. In some countries where English is not its native language, it might be difficult to follow this recommendation, but what I would say to those who want to try to get better at it is to watch many American movies or movies made in other English speaking countries that have English subtitles and try to get the feel of the language in a natural setting where speaking is not artificially done. I think it is one of the best ways to learn English when a person is an environment where the conditions for full immersion are lacking.0-
