Correct these please

Hi, Please help with these.

1. Which is correct, 'are' or 'were'?

There are or were six monkeys. You added two more. How many do you have now?

2. Usually, 'wishes' is used but can it be 'wished' here?

As June approaches, everyone wishes (wished OK??) that his vacation were longer.

As June approached, everyone wishes (wished OK??) that his pocketbook were thicker.

3. Can the underlined word be 'until'?

What is your ideal age to live to (until OK??)? -- My reasoning is that it could go both ways: "My ideal age is to live to 100." Or "My ideal age is to live until 100."
