Correct tense: [had not skated] or [have not skated]

I have made up the examples below.

(1) [Suppose that you just finished a skating competition in first place]. I'm very happy that I finished first. I hadn't skated so fast in five years.

(2) [Suppose that you just finished a skating competition in first place]. I'm very happy that I finished first. I haven't skated so fast in five years.
