Correct tense for a clue?

Hi. Let's say you're playing a quiz game on famous people with students and the game goes like this. I think it's a well-known game, but I can't come up with the exact name of it - maybe it's called "Hot Seat." Anyway, students are divided into teams and a student from a team sits in a chair. And the students from the team give clues and the student in the chair must tell who the person is. Let's say the answer is "President John F. Kennedy." Can this be one of the clues? Thank you in advance for your help.

He is handsome.

Or should it be "He was handsome"?
