Correct Tense

Hi.

Which is the right tense to use in the follwing questions.

My favorite white T-shirt turned pink. It ---------------with my daughter's red sweater.

1. Has been washed 2. had been washed 3. was washed 4. was being washed

Could you explain the reason?

Since your T-shirt was already pink before you began to talk it has to be a past tense. If you are making two separate statements " was washed" is to be used . This is a Past Simple Passive and it is used to describe a simple fact about the past.
