Correct sentence with the context?
Suppose, the police officer has arrested many innocent people that were looking alike to the criminals. Can I say this to the officer, "I would hope you would investigate seriously before arresting people."?

To state strongly that the proper investigation has to be done before arresting people.
The most obvious way to say this is eg You have to do the proper investigation before arresting people.
