Correct sentence and phrasing

We all know that there are black sheep in every field and trade and even (in) priesthood.

1. Is 'in' optional or unnecessary?

2. Is 'priesthood' correctly used in the sentence?

3, Can the sentence be phrased in a better way?

Thank you.

It's rare that I see things other than how Mr. M does, but while I see the "the" as obligatory (and missing from your original), I don't find the "in" obligabatory, and I would remove the "and."

I prefer Mr. M's re-write, but I find it works without the "in" as well.

There are black sheep in every profession, even the priesthood.
