Correct sentence?

CalifJim
anonymousAre these sentences above correct with if clauses?

Yes.

anonymouswhat do you think about me turning non-conditional woulds into conditional would?

I have no strong opinion about it. I suppose you are practicing different ways of thinking about the uses of 'would'.

Nevertheless, the non-conditional woulds don't create very good sentences when you add if-clauses to them. This effect is more obvious in the first sentence than in the second. That is, the second sentence is more successful as a sentence with the if-clause than the first is. (Just my opinion.)

CJ

Good morning, CJ. I have some questions that I forgot to ask. Please have a look at the following sentences. I turned these sentences into past sentences.

1: It would seem he is happy with this job. (Non-conditional would)

2: It would suggest he will take the offer. (Non-condition would)

into

3: It would’ve seemed he was happy with this job. (Non-conditional would)

4: It would’ve suggested he would take the offer. (Non-condition would)

I don’t know if sentences 3 and 4 with would’ve are correct and make sense. I am not sure if the would haves in sentences 3 & 4 are non conditional. I think if you say “it would’ve seemed …”, it’s more likely a third conditional rather than non conditional to me. What do you think?

Also,

Would you mind checking these sentences below taken from news articles? All the previous sentences that were checked were self created. I just would like to confirm my understanding.

A: “The group has also attempted to secure funding from international organisations, with little success. Many think that giving us money would be an insult to Europe, as it would imply that there is a problem with human rights.” (Seems conditional would to me)

B: “It would imply that the Yankees are free swingers who give away at-bats, and that has not happened.” (Seems non-conditional would to me)

Isn’t the would in sentence A conditional and sentence B non-conditional? We have discussed before that non-conditional would could be used as conditional would with an if clause.

Also, I just would like to say that you have been very helpful to me with my English and I will always appreciate you willingness to help me.
