Correct sentence?

Is this sentence correct? I especially wonder if the tenses are used correctly?

"I had been in a relationship for almost six years, when I finally realized (that) this bound was stopping me from living my own life"

Top answer

I would use, for example, "that bond/commitment" instead of "this bound" in the above. Otherwise, I don't see a problem.
