Correct question?

Hi. Let's say a man murmured, "I have a headache" when he was asked by a doctor as to his symptom. There were two doctors in the room sitting next to each other and the second doctor didn't hear it. And he wanted to find out what the man said, so he asked the doctor next to him who had heard the words said by the man, "What did he say what's the matter with him?"

Is what he asked, "What did he say what's the matter with him," correct grammatically? I hope my question is clear. Thank you in advance for your help.
