Correct or not no. 84: How could I improve it?

Dear All,

I think that commas are missing in this sentence but perhaps there's more things to be corrected here. What do you think?

Just a reminder because I'm not sure if I told you on Tuesday to read chapters 5 & 6 of Animal Farm by this Friday. We'll also check the journal entries.

It's OK as an informal sentence. Probably I would put a comma after "reminder".

I don't exactly understand the connection between the sentences, but I suppose it makes sense in context.
