Correct or not no. 67

Dear All,

Would be so kind and tell me if this longish sentence is well-written? The underlined part is particularly troublesome for me.

Although his level of in-class participation varies from class to class he's usually ready to answer questions asked by the teacher and in that respect he's willing to take such attempts more so than some of the other students.

Thank you.

Previously I was trying to explain the meaning, not to write a better sentence.
