Correct or not no. 49: a whole new level ridiculousness

Hello,

Could you please tell me if the sentences in bold are correct and native-like?

I met this guy in the classroom the other day. We talked about cameras for a while and it turned out he had bought a camera for 14,000USD. I asked him what camera it was and he replied: Leica. I was a bit taken aback because Leicas are the most expensive cameras on the market but what shocked me even more was when he said he didn't carry the camera anywhere because he said he was too lazy to take pictures. Then I thought to myself... "God, this is like a whole new level of ridiculousness. To buy one of the priciest cameras ever and never use it."

If you'd be so kind and point out to any other mistakes in the paragraph, I'd be very grateful.

Thank you
