Which one is correct?

I think it's unfair that those people are unaware of who is the author of the picture.


I think it's unfair that those people are unaware of who the author of the picture is.

In my opinion the first one is incorrect.

I've never heard 'the author of the picture'.
'Author' normally relates to writing.

I'd expect
eg . . . are unaware of who took (or painted if it is a painting) the picture.
