Mammals face ........... uncertain future as global temperatures rise,

a. an b. no article

The model answer is "an" . The word "future" is uncountable, how can we use "an" before an uncountable noun?

Top answer

We almost always use the article if there is a qualifying (categorizing) adjective before the noun. In this case, the adjective is " uncertain ". There are different types of future prospects, and this is one of them.
