Correct or not?

The climate …….. warmer.

a. gets b. is getting

I think both 'a' & 'b' are OK. Am I right?

For a to work, you need more in the sentence to show the habitual nature of the present simple, which is used as a summary of repeated observations over a period of time. The climate gets warmer at the end of every ice age . Taken by itself, b is OK as a comment on our own times.
