Correct or not?

Is the following sentence correct in terms of grammar, punctuation and style? -The saying goes, "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step."

Be more specific about the source of the quotation:

As Lao-Tzu, the Chinese philosopher, said: "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step."

It's correct, but we usually start a sentence like this with "as" and we don't usually quote it.

As the saying goes, a journey ... step.
