Correct or not?

Is the following sentence correct or not : Fashion renews every year?

Although "renew" can be used as an intransitive verb, I don't think this sentence is OK. Am I right?

I would accept that sentence, but it feels a little unusual. Simpler and more common would be e.g. "Fashion changes every year".
