You can say

"protect your car from theft"

but you can't say

"How to protect your car from stealing"

stealing = theft

so why ?

i'm sorry to bother but i'm not native speaker ,and i need to know .

I suppose that 'stealing' as a gerund is not used there because of its confusion with the participle. 'Stealing' is not a noun we use much anyway...because we have 'theft'.

PS: 'grammarly' is not an English word.
