Correct or not?

Is this sentence correct?

"It's been a while since I heard from you and probably a while since you've heard from me."

It should be "since you heard from me".

I agree, if only to keep the verb forms parallel. An argument could be made for the original, but I wouldn't propose it.

Or do you think it should be "it has been a while" instead of "it's been a while"?

I'd leave it as it's.

The probably been a while part is a bit strange though...don't you know if it has been a long time or not since you last contacted the other person?

It's exactly as I (a native English speaker of 54 years) would say it. Intuitively, it's perfectly correct. Grammatically, there might be an argument for changing the tense, but then it doesn't sound right!

I wonder whether the present perfect works in the second part because the other party is now "hearing from" the speaker.

That makes the "hearing from" current again.
