Correct option?

Hi there,

Out of America's top ten road trips cited in a magazine ---- are steeped in history while ---- pursue remote, wild beauty.

A) several / a few
B) some / the other

Only one option is correct. According to the official answer key option A is the correcy choice. It's OK. But what makes the option B incorrect in this context?

Thank you for your answer but we can use "the other" as a pronoun, can't we?

For example:

She has two kittens, one is black and the other is all white.

Then "the other pursue" makes sense, isn't it?
